Adventure Sunday

A Day of Adventure, Challenge, Exploration, and Fun

You've read about it in City Sports, Variety, Vogue, Fitness, and Club Industry. You've heard the rumors, the myths, the tall tales, and the downright bragging. You've wondered 'how do I take it to the next level?' Well, wonder no more, because NOW YOU CAN DO IT, TOO...

Come hike, beach trek, stairclimb, and stretch your body and mind in a non-stop fitness adventure led by Chris Kostman, life-long adventure athlete and Creator of the RoadRacers Indoor Cycling Program for Bodies in Motion.

How? Just contact us to book your small group for this one-of-a-kind experience!

Training and Preparation for Adventure Sunday

Adventure Sunday is designed as a celebration of fitness, an opportunity to challenge oneself and also "show off" the well-honed fitness you've developed at the club with your ongoing commitment to indoor cycling training and other types of indoor training. It's also an opportunity to see and enjoy some of the exciting and fascinating parts of the nearby mountains and other hiking and outdoor training locations. Finally, Adventure Sunday is a great way to meet fellow club members with a similar enthusiasm for fitness, exploration, and adventure.

Like an indoor cycling class, Adventure Sunday allows people of varying backgrounds and levels of fitness to train and challenge themselves together. Those of you with full-time jobs and life's many responsibilities will find Adventure Sunday an exciting challenge, yet still doable and fun, providing a new perspective on life and fitness. For those who regularly climb mountains, run marathons, or compete in triathlons, Adventure Sunday will provide plenty of challenge, as well as an innovative cross-training opportunity and alternative training methods "workshop." Importantly, Adventure Sunday is totally non-competitive, so please don't be intimidated!

Training and preparation for Adventure Sunday should include regular indoor cycling classes (the most powerful and productive form of indoor training available today), as well as hiking or brisk walking and other forms of fitness training. You should be able to comfortably complete two classes in one day (though you needn't do this regularly as part of your training). Also, you should be comfortable propelling yourself on foot (something many of us don't do too often as we tend to drive everywhere) for a few hours. Working on flexibility and posture is also key to success on Adventure Sunday and in life in general. We'll conclude our day of training with an hour or more of kinesthetic training, an innovative blend of postures and movements from yoga, martial arts, and ballet that emphasizes strength and flexibility together. If you emphasize stretching after all of your RoadRacers classes and workouts, you'll find Adventure Sunday that much more comfortable and the final hours of the day that much more meaningful.

In the three days prior to Adventure Sunday, go ahead and keep on training moderately, but be sure to get plenty of rest, drink up to a gallon of water and eat several well-balanced meals per day. Finally, look forward with enthusiasm and a smile to the personal challenges and accomplishments that you will encounter on Adventure Sunday. Once you've been to the top of the mountain, your worldview will never be the same!

I hope to see you soon in class or on Adventure Sunday! If you would like to book an Adventure Sunday for your group, feel free to contact us!

What to Bring to Adventure Sunday

  • Can-do attitude, sense of adventure, and willingness to push the envelope.
  • For hiking: dry clothes, hiking boots/shoes, sunblock, at least one liter of water, lunch, snack food such as powerbars and fruit (there's no such thing as too much water or food), basic first aid kit, cellular phone (in case you lose yourself), hat, and a buttpack or daypack in which to carry all this.
  • For stairs: running shoes and clean socks.
  • For cycling (if we do this): bike shorts, bike shoes with Look cleats (if you have them), clean socks, towel, snacks, and TWO bottles of water, plus fitness shoes and dry shirt for kinesthetic training afterwards.
