A Sampling of Bob Evans' Patented Force Fin Innovations

By Chris Kostman

Ribless leading edges - "clean edge technology" - brings water from the front into the working area of the blade.

Upcurved wing tips - focuses a higher volume of channeled water for greater directional control, speed, and maneuverability.

Built-in power and recovery kick cycle - created through compression of material in the arc of the blade when the user kicks down against the blade followed by the rapid kickback in response to the release of the tension in the compression of the material when the forward kick motion is released.

Extended heel section - transfers load to back of the foot.

Open toe pocket - transfers load off arches, ankles, toes, and calves up to the significantly stronger thigh.

Curved backside - directs water towards wing tips to reduce drag during recovery in kick cycle, which increases efficiency and reduces incidence of calf cramps.

Upcurved V-shape of fin - by channeling water, this increases both the directional flow of the water and diver maneuverability.

Adjustable foot pocket - customizes foot pocket for an individual's foot.

Vortex generators - these bumps on the back side of the Extra Force increase the speed that water moves off the blade.

Variable thrust controllers - attachments known as Force Wings which give directional control of the water and thus provide adjustable increases in thrust and maneuverability.

QUOTE
Bob Evans: "I was mainly looking at fish and things that moved through water for my inspiration."

WHY
Suzanne Chess: "The other manufacturers just kept doing the same old stuff and packaging it to look different. It was the same old thing: a board with a foot pocket on it."
