Ritchey Break-Away,
an awesome bicycle offered for sale by AdventureCORPS
AdventureCORPS is an Authorized Ritchey Break-Away Dealer, so you can special order your own Break-Away - either a road or cross frame or bike, in either light-weight steel or a titanium-carbon mix - from AdventureCORPS! You can even take delivery at one of our events! (Every AdventureCORPS cycling event is an ideal venue to explore the world and partake in a one-of-a-kind cycling experience on a Ritchey Break-Away Bicycle.)
The Ritchey Break-Away is a no-compromise, world-class bicycle which also breaks in half to travel in a relatively small suitcase for ease of travel (no more big bike boxes to lug around and to try to stash into taxis and closets) and, nearly always, at no extra charge when being checked as luggage on airplanes.
AdventureCORPS founder Chris Kostman purchased his Break-Away in 2004 as a travel bike, but its incredible ride qualities and stylish appearance were so alluring that it immediately became practically the only bicycle he ever rides, whether traveling or not.

My Ritchey BreakAway
>>>
I bought this bicycle for travel purposes, but it immediately became the primary bicycle I use because it rides great and I love it. Flying with a bicycle in the Post-9/11 world is a nightmare perpetrated by airlines ripping us off with outrageous "special handling fees" and TSA thugs tearing through one's possessions and then hurriedly shoving it all back together so they can move onto the next victim. The first time I flew with a bicycle after 9/11 was the last time I did so. For two years I FedExed my bike around instead, but that's not cheap, either, and requires sending the bike a day or two ahead of traveling so that it arrives on time. The Ritchey Breakaway is not the first full-size bicycle to break down and go into a special airline-ready suitcase, but it's easily the most ingenious, simplest, and most stealth solution. In my slideshow of the bike, I have have action shots from the 2005 Hell Weel Texas and the 2004 Ironman Revisited on Oahu. (I also raced in Ironman Revisited in 2005 and 2007).
At right: That's me with Tom Ritchey at the start line of the 2006 Race Across America in Oceanside.
