Route Description
Returning from 2001 and 2002, the 200km route includes one of the best 50 mile loops anywhere in the country: the Glendora - Mt. Baldy - Upland - Glendora loop that Chris Kostman first did at age 14 in February, 1982, the day after buying his first "real" bike. Later he used this same route as his primary training grounds for the Race Across America and more. It's always been a sentimental favorite, too, and he still goes to Glendora to ride that loop once or twice a year, even though his parents retired and moved from Glendora to Solvang back in 1996.

And as for all those other miles in the 200km, they're a really neat tour of the foothill communities of the San Gabriel Valley: Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino, Arcadia, Monrovia, Azusa, and Glendora, among others. Sure, it's "urban riding," but it's all thru really nice areas, quiet roads, easy to rolling terrain, and not too many lights or stop signs. Trust us, we hate riding "through town" and in traffic, so we wouldn't put together a route that wasn't fun. All the 2001 and 2002 riders really enjoyed this route, so we hope you look forward to it as much as we do! There will be three checkpoints, at mile 37 (Azusa), mile 63 (Baldy Village), and mile 86 (Azusa).

Many of the 2001 riders regrouped up on Glendora Mountain Road, halfway to Mt. Baldy
